In October 2020, an update to PokemonGO has introduced Shadow Mewtwo along with Strage Eggs. To make things clearer for Trainers, a short Special Research Quest was added to the game. Following the stages of  the quest, trainers can find Strange Eggs (12km hatch distance with unique pokemon like Vullaby and Paniward), which are obtained every time you defeat a GO Rocket Leader. Also, when defeating the GO Rocket Boss Giovanni you will get an encounter with a Shadow Mewtwo which is an extremely powerful addition to your Pokemon collection.

We have complied a list of all the tasks and rewards in the "An Inter-egg-sting Development" Special research down below.

 

Stage 1 of 6

• Defeat three Team Go Rocket grunts (500 Stardust)
• Spin five PokéStops (500 Stardust)
• Catch one Shadow Pokémon (Meowth Encounter)

Completion Rewards: 10x Razz Berry, 500 Stardust, 10x Poké Ball.

 

Stage 2 of 6

• Make three Nice curveball throws in a row (750 XP)
• Catch five Shadow Pokémon (750 XP)
• Purify five Shadow Pokémon (750 XP)

Completion Rewards: 10x Great Ball, 1,500 Stardust, Larvitar Encounter.

 

Stage 3 of 6

• Hatch three Eggs (1,000 XP)
• Earn five Candies walking with your Buddy (1,000 XP)
• Defeat a Team Go Rocket leader three times (1,000 XP)

Completion Rewards: 3x Golden Razz Berry, 1,500 Stardust, Toxicroak Encounter.

 

Stage 4 of 6

• Defeat Team Go Rocket Leader Sierra (1,250 XP)
• Defeat Team Go Rocket Leader Arlo (1,250 XP)
• Defeat Team Go Rocket Leader Cliff (1,250 XP)

Completion Rewards: 3x Revive, 5x Super Potion, 1x Super Rocket Radar.

 

Stage 5 of 6

• Find the Team Go Rocket boss (2,500 Stardust)
• Battle the Team Go Rocket Boss (1,500 XP)
• Defeat the Team Go Rocket Boss (3x Silver Pinap Berry)

Completion Rewards: 3,000 Stardust, 1x Fast TM, 1x Charged TM.

• Auto Completed (2,000 XP)
