Shortly after launching A Troubling Situation PokemonGO added another Special Research Quest called A Thousand-Year Slumber for catching the Gen-3 Mythical Pokemon Jirachi. Needless to say that this was a long awaited Special Research. Trainers can now encounter Jirachi after completing a 7-Step Quest. Each step has 3 tasks and features additional rewards. Some of these tasks require preperation and special Items so we've collected all tasks below so you'll know what to expect when starting the Quest.

 

 

Stage 1 of 7

• Catch 25 Pokémon (1,000 XP)
• Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms (Jigglypuff Encounter)
• Make 3 new friends (Feebas encounter)

Completion Rewards: Mossy Lure, Glacial Lure, Magnetic Lure.

 

Stage 2 of 7

• Catch 3 Whismur (10 Whismur Candies)
• Evolve a Feebas (1,500 XP)
• Get a gold medal for the Hoenn Pokedex (1,500 XP)

Completion Rewards: 2,000 Stardust, 10 Pokeballs, 3 Incense.

 

Stage 3 of 7

• Take a snapshot of Loudred (Snorlax encounter)
• Make 3 Great Throws in a row (2,000 XP)
• Earn 3 Candies walking with your buddy (2,000 XP)

Completion Rewards: 20 Silver Pinap berries, 3 Star Pieces, 2,000 Stardust.

 

Stage 4 of 7

• Catch 50 psychic- or steel-type Pokémon (2,500 XP)
• Power up Pokémon 10 times (2,500 XP)
• Send 10 gifts to friends (2,500 XP)

Completion Rewards: Fast TM, Premium Raid Pass, Charge TM.

 

Stage 5 of 7

• Battle a team leader 3 times (Kricketune encounter)
• Win against another trainer 7 times (3,000 XP)
• Win 5 raids (3,000 XP)

Completion Rewards: 3 Rare Candies, 20 Ultra Balls, 3,000 Stardust.

 

Stage 6 of 7

• Take 5 photos of steel or psychic Pokémon (Chimecho encounter)
• Make 3 excellent curveball throws (Bronzong encounter)
• Spin a Pokéstop 7 days in a row (4,000 XP)

Completion Rewards: 10 Silver Pinap Berries, 10 Star Pieces, 5,000 Stardust.

• Auto completed (4,500 XP)
• Auto completed (4,500 XP)

Completion Rewards: Jirachi Encounter, 20 Jirachi Candy and Jirachi T-shirt from the Style Shop.
